Play a short-sided rough lie like a mini bunker shot

When you are short-sided in rough that is taller than the ball, the instructor says you are not going to hit the ball first, so you play the shot almost like a little mini bunker shot and slide the club under the ball. Treat the buried lie as a slide-under recovery rather than trying to catch the ball cleanly.
