Short-sided bunker shots: stand further away and sit low

For a short-sided bunker shot, adjust the setup to keep some speed while reducing swing length and power: stand farther from the ball, grip down almost to the steel, and sit very low with the knees and hands. The low setup keeps the hands in a compact box so the clubhead carries the energy. Open the face enough to keep the loft aimed at the target as the lowered handle points it left.

Try it

  1. Get further away from the ball
  2. Get right down the grip, almost your trigger finger onto the steel
  3. Sit down low - super low with your knees, really low with your hands
  4. Open the club face a little bit more

Why this context matters

For pins only seven or eight yards away with very little green to work with.
