Do the taco drill to sync takeaway and hinge
The taco drill links the takeaway and the hinge into one motion. Grip the shaft wider than shoulder width, take your backswing setup, and press the lead palm down on the grip end, pushing it straight back parallel to the target line while keeping the shaft upright rather than flat. A split-grip version (lead hand in the normal spot, trail hand slid down near the shaft, hovering, no ball) exaggerates the same feel so the club travels above the plane instead of under it. Taco stands for taking it back and cocking, hinging at the same time.
