Set the lead-hand pad on top of the grip for power

On the lead hand, hold the club out at 45 degrees and let it run through the middle of the index finger to the base of the little finger so the pad of the lead hand sits on top of the grip. The instructor says this pad-on-top position lets you push down and adds a lever to the club, which creates power; if the pad is turned onto the side of the club you lose that lever and lose power.
