Picture a tree in front of you to stay back

Trevino recounts a lesson from coach Randy Smith after he started hitting it badly: chasing more clubhead speed had turned him into a 'holder' who slid past the ball, his center line moving left so that he had no speed at all. Randy's fix was to have him hit a 7-iron up and over a tree, which got him staying back - he felt his head almost move backward - and the ball cleared the tree. The swing thought to keep is simply to pretend there is a tree in front of you so you stay behind the ball. Framed as his own experience, but the anti-slide image transfers.
