Match pitching-wedge shaft to irons, soften higher wedges

The speaker generally matches the pitching wedge to the same shaft used in the irons, since a pitching wedge is essentially a 10- or 11-iron hit as a full shot without much manipulation or many off-speed hits. As loft increases into the sand and lob wedges, which see more off-speed shots, the speaker suggests keeping the weight up but softening the shaft a little for feel.
