Judge downhill speed by time, not distance

Rather than only reading an equivalent distance, the speaker feeds in how long the ball will actually be rolling. On one 30-foot steep downhill putt, people guessed the ball would take three to six seconds but it took 18, so the ball has to come off the putter very slowly because it keeps rolling. He reports much better results working on the timing side of speed than the equivalent-distance side.
