Judge wedge wear by shot dispersion, not averages
In this old-vs-new wedge test the averages looked similar, so on the surface there seemed no reason to change wedges. The instructor frames relying on the averages as the mistake people make: the real difference shows up in the standard deviation. With the newer wedge the ball speed, launch angle, and spin were tighter with hardly any deviation, while the old wedge showed much bigger deviation.
