Use a five-second chip setup routine

The coach gives a repeatable five-second routine to take to the course. Hold the club out in front and let it fall so both triceps rest on the chest, which levels you rather than tilting. Drop the club straight down and feel like you are just on the surface of the grass, not deep in it, so you lower the arc. Make a few practice swings brushing the ground to get a sense of depth control, then pivot through the shot.

Try it

  1. Put the club out in front of you and let the club fall so both triceps rest, so you're nice and level
  2. Drop the club down and feel like you're just on the surface of the grass, not right in deep
  3. Make some swings where you're just brushing the ground to get a sense of depth control
  4. Then pivot through the shot
