Cavity-back wedge sole bounces instead of digging

A cavity-back wedge has more sole area at the bottom of the head, which the speaker says helps players who have less control of their low point. He describes it as security: if you do something bad, the extra bounce lets the club bounce off the turf rather than dig, so you'll still advance the ball forward somewhat and it won't be the worst result.
