Use the clock face to read putt break direction
The instructor maps break direction onto a clock face on a planar back-to-front slope. The upper straight putt is 12 o'clock and the lower is 6 o'clock; 3 o'clock usually breaks right to left and 9 o'clock left to right. Everything on the left half of the clock (6:01 to 11:59) as you look uphill to the hole breaks left to right on some level, and everything on the right half breaks right to left.
