Keep the knee over the ankle in a lunge

For the base lunge, hold a light dumbbell or ball, step one foot out, and move straight down. Keep the knee over the ankle at roughly a 90-degree angle rather than letting it move into the position the instructor warns can hurt the knee joint.

Try it

  1. grab a lightweight dumbbell or a ball of some kind
  2. step out with your left foot
  3. go straight down
  4. make sure your ankle and your knee is in line
  5. Make sure you keep that 90 degree angle
