Square your alignment to earn permission to shift left
If you aim well right of target you have no reason to shift and shallow the club - shifting would send the ball miles right - so you end up spinning and rotating over the line to bring it back. Aiming square, or even slightly open, removes that trap and gives you permission to move laterally toward the target. The instructor frames this shift toward the target as the key change for this player.
