Drive the kettlebell swing with hips, not arms

For the kettlebell swing, the instructor cues driving the hips forward to send the arms up to chin level rather than lifting with the arms, and keeping the back straight and neutral rather than rounded. She says this hip-thrust movement is what builds power useful in the golf swing, and that it is felt in the thighs, glutes, and core.

Try it

  1. use your hips thrusting forward to get those arms swinging up to chin level
  2. I do not want to see that back rounded. It needs to be nice and straight in the neutral angle
  3. I really don't want to see anybody using their arms to raise a kettlebell swing

Why this context matters

Kettlebell swing exercise in a golf-fitness routine; use a heavier kettlebell.
