Modify the hell drill to keep width in transition

The instructor introduces a modified version of the hell drill. In the normal hell drill the right palm sits on the side of the grip, which he describes as good for players who get flippy or have a lot of hook bias. For the modification, the trail hand goes about 45 degrees on top of the grip; take it to the top and in transition feel like you keep width and pressure on top of the grip, with a little pressure on the thumb pushing down. He says this helps force the shaft down and back behind you.

Try it

  1. we're going to put it about 45 degrees on top of the grip
  2. We're going to take it to the top here and in transition I actually want you to feel like you're keeping that width or that pressure on top of the grip a little bit

Why this context matters

Presented as a modification of the instructor's existing 'hell drill'.
