Control wedge height with your finish, not lifting
The instructor controls wedge trajectory by the height of their finish rather than trying to lift the ball. They say a lower release produces a lower shot and a higher release a higher shot, so they don't think about hoisting it into the air, they just think about where their finish is going to go.
