Know how shaft lean removes wedge bounce
The instructor explains that grind and bounce behavior comes down to how much loft you present at impact. On a full shot where the shaft is leaned well forward, the back edge of the club lifts into the air and the bounce is effectively gone, so you are dealing with the leading edge of the club. When the shaft is more vertical and you present more loft, you engage the middle-to-back of the sole instead. He ties the leading edge's role to players who get into the turf a little early on full shots.
