Brush the turf using the bounce, don't dig steeply

The instructor contrasts a steep angle of attack of roughly 9 to 14 degrees down or up, which takes turf and catches the ball behind or in front and is horribly inconsistent, with good low-point control where the club just bruises the turf on the way through. That is what people mean by using the bounce and the sole of the club as designed.
