Set the face, hover the shaft over the ball, turn square

The speaker walks through his alignment sequence: 'stand to the handle' with the handle pointed slightly left of center and the clubface square, aim the leading edge where you want the ball to go, then drop the shaft so it hovers over the ball parallel to the target. Picturing that imaginary shaft running through the ball, he turns to right angles to it and steps into the shot.

Try it

  1. Stand to the handle with the handle pointed hair left to your center and the club square
  2. Aim the leading edge right where you want the ball to go
  3. Drop the shaft down so it is hovering over the golf ball parallel to your target
  4. Turn it right angles to that imaginary shaft, then step into the shot
