Understand what wedge grooves really do for spin

Contrary to the common belief that a wedge's grooves have sharp teeth that grip and spin the ball, the instructor explains grooves work like tread on a tire. On a dry ball a grooveless face would actually spin more, but in wet conditions grooves are essential: they disperse moisture so the ball and clubface stay in close contact, which keeps friction up and lets the ball spin as intended.
