Point the grip butt down the target line to shallow
To stop the shaft getting too steep in the downswing, the instructor cues pointing the butt of the club down the target line as the hands come in, so the club drops into what he calls the power position. He offers an equally good alternative image: feel the trail elbow pointing down toward the target rather than steeply at the floor.
