Fire force into the back of the ball, not the follow-through

Once the ball has left the face you have zero influence on it, so trying to complete a big follow-through often makes players lunge at the ball. Instead, set up, picture the ball, and imagine driving all your force into the back of it; let the follow-through be just a natural braking system that slows you down afterward.
