Turn your lead shoulder down to power the pivot
To make the pivot work, Saguto says to turn the shoulder down and point the lead (left) shoulder at the ball while freeing up the lower half and letting it move without consciously flexing the legs. Turning the shoulder down makes the pivot work properly; turning level buckles the leg and loses your relationship with the ball.
