Play the putt-chip off the toe for downhill control

For a controlled, checking shot, the instructor teaches a 'putt-chip': raise the handle, set the ball off the toe of the club, get the hands high, use a putting grip, and make a little putting stroke while striking out of the toe. Hitting it off the toe puts extra spin on the first bounce.

Try it

  1. you raise the handle
  2. you put the ball in the toe with the club there and get your high hands
  3. use a putting grip
  4. you just work a little putting stroke but you hit it out the toe
