Drop a ball from your sternum to set contact point
To check whether you are set up to strike the ball first, hold a ball at the middle of your sternum and calmly drop it; it should land right over the top of the golf ball. If your sternum is over the ball, pivoting from there increases the chance you strike the ball then the ground.
