Grip up for a fade because the open face adds loft

For a fade, the instructor opens the club face, which adds loft so the ball flies a little shorter, about five to seven yards shorter, so she grips up roughly half a club to a full club extra. With the face open she notes your body will start compensating to close it, so you tell yourself the face is supposed to be open during the swing and at impact.
