Compress by de-lofting and sweeping, not chopping down
The instructor's key on strike: you compress a golf ball with the club de-lofted, not by chopping down on it. Many people misinterpret strike and try to compress by chopping down; instead, sweeping the floor keeps the handle working upwards through impact, which he says produces compression while sweeping the ball.
