Rotate through impact to avoid the shank

The speaker explains why a shank happens: if you do not rotate and turn the corner with everything through impact, the club still comes down but has to go somewhere, so it moves away from your body and the hosel heads straight for the ball. Keeping the rotational element so the whole thing turns through is what prevents it.
