Hit through a peg gate to test your start line
A start-line test drill: set two pegs (or a pile of coins) about one and a half balls apart and mark a fixed spot to putt from. Hit 10 putts and count how many roll through the gap versus catch the left or right peg. A pattern of hitting the right peg tells you your face is probably open coming into the ball, so you can self-diagnose your stroke.

- Put two pegs or coins down about one ball and a half apart, and mark where you are hitting from
- Have 10 goes and count how many go through the middle and how many hit the left peg or the right peg
- If putts hit the right peg your face is probably open coming into the ball
