Push putts with no backswing as a drill

As a putting drill, the coach has the player set up and make no backswing, then simply push the ball toward the hole. It grooves a forward, lower-through stroke; if you can push it all the way to the hole, you've delivered the putter correctly. He notes you still need a real backswing on the course, so it is only a drill.

Try it

  1. So you just set up
  2. No backswing
  3. Can you just push it?
  4. And if you can get it to the hole, it means you've delivered it correctly

Why this context matters

The coach flags it is only a drill; you still need a real backswing on the course.
