Nip longer-iron chips shorter

With longer irons around the green, keep the follow-through shorter and more nipped because letting the club rise too much can raise the leading edge and weaken the strike. Feel about two-thirds of the swing length going back and one-third going through.

Try it

  1. Let the shoulders take the club farther back.
  2. Keep the follow-through shorter and more nipped so the club does not rise too much.
  3. Feel about two-thirds of the swing length back and one-third through.

Why this context matters

This applies when using a longer iron for a chip-and-run.
