Why the traditional takeaway disconnects the arms

Saguto argues the traditional takeaway is built on a conflict: at address your hand (and thumb) faces the target while your shoulders sit perpendicular, facing the opposite way. Because the hand works against the shoulders, when you swing the club back the arms keep moving up and off the body, so the body and arms disconnect. He frames this hand-versus-shoulder conflict as the root cause behind fighting your swing right off the ball.
