Lead-hand pressure at the top makes you go over the top

The instructor explains that if you hold the club up with the lead hand at the top with a lot of pressure there, the most common fault in the downswing is to yank down with the lead hand, because whatever has the most pressure tends to take over the power in the downswing. She says this means you will most likely go over the top and lose distance, accuracy, and consistency.
