Strike ball-first: catch it earlier than a driver

The instructor defines the swing's 'landing point' - the club's maximum radius, directly under your lead armpit where the lead arm and club form a straight line - as the spot where you'd catch a driver. For any club played off the ground, he says you must strike the ball much earlier, before the club reaches that maximum radius, so you catch it on the way down rather than at the bottom of the arc.
