Treat a fairway bunker like a tight lie, don't dig in
In a fairway bunker the instructor treats the shot like a tight lie rather than a greenside bunker shot. He walks in lightly on his tiptoes without settling or wallowing his feet into the sand so he doesn't lower himself, then swings down and takes a divot, keeping everything else the same.
