The horse race: outside hand must win the photo finish

Picture a horse track where the body is the inside horse moving only eight to ten inches while the hands are the outside horse moving about five feet. Because the outside horse has so much farther to travel to the finish line, the hands must speed up in the downswing so both arrive together in a photo finish at impact. It is a mental model for why the hands have to accelerate through while the body stays patient.
