Know stronger-lofted irons are just de-lofted

The instructor argues that stronger-lofted new irons aren't necessarily better clubs. Manufacturers de-loft the irons so your seven iron now goes as far as your old six or even five iron, which he frames as a way of selling clubs. He gives the example of a friend with a new set out-hitting your five iron with his seven or six iron - but all that happened is the clubs were de-lofted.
