Control the clubface over the swing path

The speaker credits controlling the clubface as key to his own functional golf, calling himself a perfect example of that. He says where the club is pointing at impact is the primary driver of where the ball starts, and that swing instructors he has spoken with consider face control — not club path — the biggest variable. In his view you can play functional golf with almost any swing path if you control where the face points reasonably well.
