Keep the lead side high with a throw-the-ball drill
A separation drill for keeping the lead side high in the downswing: take your normal stance, pop the club out in front with the lead arm extended straight while staying in posture, then make a motion like throwing a golf ball so the arm moves underneath — Hanson says this keeps the left side up extremely high. As an alternative version, get the knee to the shaft line or ball line before the hand does.

- take our stance where we normally would stand
- get the pop the club out in front of you
- get your arm sort of extended out so it's nice and straight so you're remaining in posture
- when you're going to throw a golf ball or get your arm to move underneath it really keeps this left side up extremely high
- get this knee to the shaft line or to the ball line before the hand does
