Open the face to carry a chip up an into-grain slope
When more than half of the shot is short of the green and you're chipping up a hill into the grain out of sticky grass, you can't bump-and-run it. You have to carry it more than 50% of the way, so open the face and play the ball slightly in the front of your stance.
