Break the backswing into below and above the belt
The coach breaks the swing into three parts: below the belt, above the belt, and the arms and hands. Below the belt is the right knee on the inside of the right foot with the knee flexed, letting it build and loading the lower body rather than spinning it. Above the belt is just the upper body turning. The arms and hands do only a little-bit-earlier hinge that sets the butt of the club pointed to the ground, with the right elbow staying very connected to the left arm.
