Match the shaft to a straight line for a square face
The coach's fix for setting a square clubface at address: make a straight line, match the shaft right up to that line, and leave the clubface matching it as well. He will sometimes close his non-dominant (left) eye so the 'rope' under the club disappears and he can see the alignment. He notes many players just grip it and skew the grip, and that even a slightly forward-leaning shaft with the face at the target is still shut in the hands.
