Playing wedge ball too far back moves your low point

During a wedge session the instructor points out the golfer plays his ball position well back. He explains the swing's low point sits roughly below the left armpit, so keeping the ball far back produces a downward (descending) attack angle. He notes this can still produce a good strike, but that unless you have good hands and timing it tends to cost dispersion control.
