Strengthen the grip before simplifying the path

For a player who lacked time to hit large volumes of balls, the instructor slightly closed the face with a stronger grip and a flat lead wrist. He then asked the player to swing out straighter; even with a small amount of face opening, the club no longer crashed across the demonstrated wall and the player hit better shots.
