Favor a fade and miss your driver right to stay in play

The instructor explains he likes seeing the ball go left to right and will happily miss his driver to the right because that miss "always usually stay[s] in play." When the ball instead starts spinning and going left, "it's not good." The transferable idea: pick your reliable driver miss and favor the fade so the ball stays in play, rather than fighting a dangerous left/hook miss.
