Turn the left hip back, don't slide it forward
On the downswing the coach stresses the lead (left) hip turning straight back rather than sliding forward laterally. He says sliding the hip forward drops the club under the plane, while turning it back keeps the club climbing on top of the plane and coming down on top of the ball. He adds that when the hip turns back, the hands and club drive forward on their own, and that feeling the hands maneuver through impact is what produces a heavy shot and loss of angle of attack.
