Chip with about four degrees down, low point just ahead
The instructor's ideal for these chip/pitch strikes is an angle of attack about four degrees down with the strike just slightly out in front of the ball, so contact is ball-first. He warns that if the low point is seven or eight inches out in front, the strike gets too low on the bottom of the face and you thin it a fair share.
