Exaggerate opening the face to counter downhill deloft

On a severe downhill lie the low left foot delofts the club face, turning it into more of a short-to-mid-iron angle, so the ball comes out lower off the face, can get caught in the bank, and if it clears will run out with very little spin. To counter this, the instructor says to exaggerate opening the club face - from the normal 12:30-to-1-o'clock to about 2-o'clock-to-2:30 - and then grip the club.
