Keep width: trail arm away from body in backswing
Richard was struggling with contact and direction, and when he took the club back his arms pulled the club inside, the club became very narrow, and his right elbow tucked behind him. From a narrow position, he had to throw the club out, causing it to release early and end in a flicky position nowhere near the strike he needed. The correction was to keep the trail arm away to create width, visualize a very wide swing with the hands staying out, and move the trail arm to two o'clock.
