Use an alignment stick to guard the downswing

Add an alignment stick so the club must stay underneath it when the downswing begins, then hit. The coach evaluates the stick only from the top through the start of the downswing and does not mind contact with it later in the follow-through.

Try it

  1. Take the golf swing to the top.
  2. Start the lower body toward the target.
  3. The club should stay under the stick, and then you hit.
